Culver City calls itself the Heart of Screenland. The lot on Washington Boulevard that is now Sony Pictures Studios was the home of MGM for decades, and The Wizard of Oz was filmed on its stages. A few blocks away, the white-columned mansion of the Culver Studios appeared in the opening titles of Gone with the Wind.
